Vandenberg Named UAA Athlete of the Week

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Following the 2015 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships over the weekend, senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for the fourth time this season.

Vandenberg became the first Carnegie Mellon athlete to earn two All-America awards in one showing at the NCAA Indoor Championships as he placed fifth in both the 400-meter and 800-meter runs. The senior competed in the two events with less than an hour-and-ten minutes between each race. The All-American honors mark the second and third of his career, as he also earned All-America honors in the 800-meter run as a junior.

Carnegie Mellon will begin its outdoor season March 20-21 when the Tartans travel to Lexington, Virginia, and compete at the 2015 Washington and Lee Track and Field Carnival.
