Vandenberg Breaks School Record at Allegheny

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the 10th Annual Gator Invitational host by Allegheny College on Friday, May 8. Senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) set a new school record in the 800-meter run.

Vandenberg's time of 1:50.05 tops his own school record of 1:50.23 set last year, as he finished second in the race to junior Austin Becker of Buffalo State (1:49.74). Also running in the race was senior Elliot Watson (Lebanon, Ohio/Miami Valley School) who finished 14th in a career-best 2:00.09.

Junior Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) competed in the 1,500-meter run, placing fourth in 4:00.81 while freshman Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) threw the discus 36.32 meters for 14th place and the hammer 42.89 meters for ninth place.
