Vandenberg Earns Second UAA Athlete of the Week for Spring

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University senior Thomas Vandenberg (Mamaroneck, N.Y./Mamaroneck) was named the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Track Athlete of the Week following his record-setting performance at the Allegheny College Gator Invitational.

Vandenberg, who earned his second honor of the spring season and sixth for the year, improved his 800-meter run time on Friday, May 8 while breaking his own school record. His time of 1:50.05 placed him second in the race while he is now third in the nation.

On Monday, Vandenberg ran the 400-meter dash at Swarthmore, crossing in 47.81 which is currently the 13th top time nationally in Division III.

Vandenberg will next compete at the 2015 NCAA Division III Men's Track and Field Outdoor Championships which take place Thursday, May 21 through Saturday, May 23 at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y.
