Walters Named UAA Outdoor Track and Field Rookie of the Year
(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman Rai Walters (Westlake, Ohio/St. Ignatius) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Outdoor Rookie of the Year when the league office announced its postseason accolades Thursday, April 28.
Walters won the long jump at the UAA Championships with a season-best jump of 6.82 meters. He became the second male representative from Carnegie Mellon to ever receive UAA indoor and outdoor track and field rookie of the year honors. Walters received the indoor award after winning the long jump with an indoor school record jump.
