Norley and DMR to Compete at NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

(INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team has received an invite for senior Owen Norley (Chagrin Falls, Ohio/Kenston) and the distance medley relay (DMR) team to compete at the NCAA Men's Track and Field Championships. The championships will be held March 10-11 at the Res Rec Center in Naperville, Illinois, with North Central College serving as the official host.

Norley was selected to compete in the mile run for the second straight season. The senior garnered All-America honors after placing sixth at the NCAA indoor championships last season. This year, Norley's time of 4:13.24 seeds him 14th at the meet. The senior set his season-best time at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Indoor Championships as he claimed his second straight UAA title in the mile.

The DMR team of senior Curtis Watro (Audubon, Pa./Methacton), sophomore Cam Wilkerson (Fishers, Ind./Saint James), sophomore Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) and Norley qualified for the race after winning the event at the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championships over the weekend with a school record time of 9:59.79. Since Norley has elected to run in the mile at the championships, freshman Evan Yukevich (Tokyo, Japan/American School in Japan) will replace him in the DMR. In addition, Wilkerson will be replaced with senior Brady Wilson (Columbus, Ohio/St. Charles Prep (Wake Forest)). This marks the first time in program history that a Carnegie Mellon men's relay team will be competing at the NCAA indoor championships.

Norley will hit the track with preliminaries of the mile to start at 1:15 p.m. CT on Friday, March 10. The finals will take place on Saturday at 1:10 p.m. CT. The DMR competes in the finals on Friday at 5:15 p.m. CT.
