Outdoor Track and Field Garners 15 USTFCCCA All-Region Honors

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's and women's track and field teams had 15 athletes honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) with All-Region accolades for the 2017 outdoor track and field season. Ten represent the men while five represent the women with three receiving multiple honors.

To be named All-Region, an athlete must either be ranked in the top-five of an individual event in the region according to final TFRRS data or be part of a top-three relay team. A total of 935 men and 945 women were selected from the eight regions in NCAA Division III. The organization first began recognizing All-Region award winners in 2016.

Men:
Ryan Archer (Sr,) - 10,000 meters
Don Boyer (Sr.) - 400-meter hurdles
Don Boyer (Sr.) - high jump
Tommy Mansfield (Jr.) - pole vault
Owen Norley (Sr.) - 1,500 meters
Jacob Schofel (Jr.) - discus
Jacob Schofel (Jr.) - hammer
Kenny Sladick (So.) - hammer
Curtis Watro (Sr.) - 3,000-meter steeplechase
Cam Wilkerson (So.) - 400-meter hurdles

Women:
Kiersten Chuc (Jr.) - hammer
Sarah Cook (Jr.) - 400 meters
Sarah Cook (Jr.) - 800 meters
Erin Persson (Gr.) - 1,500 meters
Grace Yee (Sr.) - pole vault

Three track and field athletes, Norley, Schofel and Yee, will continue their season at the 2017 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, which will be held in Geneva, Ohio, at SPIRE Institute from May 25-27. Norley will compete in the 1,500-meter run, Schofel in the hammer throw and Yee in the pole vault.
