Men’s Track Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2018 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on each list for the 22nd consecutive year. A total of 106 men's teams and 185 women's teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team GPA of 3.00 or better for the 2017-18 academic year.

The Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s track and field teams had 14 Mideast All-Region honors awarded to its athletes by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for the 2018 outdoor track and field season. Nine represent the women while five represent the men with three receiving multiple honors.

Three Carnegie Mellon University men’s and women’s track and field athletes have qualified for the 2018 NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Championships to be hosted by the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse on May 24-26. Seniors Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston) and Sarah Cook (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Hampton), along with sophomore Michelle Karabin (Ruffs Dale, Pa. / Greensburg Central Catholic) made the field and will represent the Tartans.

Carnegie Mellon University senior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston) and freshman Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) were honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) when the 2018 Outdoor Track and Field awards were announced Thursday. Schofel was named Most Outstanding Performer in the field events while Miller was named Rookie of the Year. The honors come after the Tartans placed second at the UAA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday, April 29.
