Career Times Lead Tartans at Ohio State and Mount Union

(COLUMBUS, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Ohio State University Tune-Up on Friday and the University of Mount Union Raider Tune-Up on Saturday.

Season-best times were achieved in the mile run at Ohio State by sophomore Evan Yukevich (Tokyo, Japan / American School in Japan) and freshman Arthur Dzieniszewski (Old Bridge, N.J. / Old Bridge). Yukevich placed fifth in the mile run with a time of 4:15.98 while Dzieniszewski placed seventh in 4:17.07.

Junior Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) and senior Evan Larrick (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville North) competed in the 800-meter run, placing third and fourth with times of 1:56.30 and 1:57.75, respectively. Junior Will Mitchell (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) ran a career-best time in the 3,000-meter run when he finished ninth overall in 8:39.97, as junior Andrew Harter (Saratoga, Calif. / Saratoga) joined him with a career-best time in 8:43.77, placing 11th.

Senior Tommy Mansfield (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville Central) placed third in the pole vault after clearing 4.41 meters while freshman Alex Liu (Amber, Pa. / Upper Dublin) and freshman Jack Murphy (Ithaca, N.Y. / Trumansburg) tied for fourth after clearing 4.11 meters.

Junior Reed Farber (Mt. Lebanon, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) jumped over the bar set at 1.86 meters in the high jump to finish fourth but later finished third in the triple jump with a mark of 12.98 meters. Winning the triple jump was senior Eloy Fernandez (San Jose, Calif. / Lynbrook) with a mark of 13.45 meters. Sophomore Fred Dauphin (Brockton, Mass. / Cardinal Spellman) finished fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.84 meters.

Freshman Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) earned a third-place finish in the shot put with a career-best mark of 15.00 meters.

The 3000-meter run was won by freshman Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame) in 8:54.66 with sophomore Harry Branch-Shaw (New York, N.Y. / Brooklyn Technical) finishing third in 9:08.36.

Freshman Grant Johnson (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) picked up a third-place finish in the 400-meter dash in 53.01 with sophomore Willie Richter (Leander, Texas / Cedar Park) placing fifth in the 200-meter dash in 23.83 and junior Mark Moody (Ellicott City, Md. / River Hill) placing fifth in the 800-meter run in 2:00.64.

Next up for the Tartans is the University Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, February 24 and 25 hosted by Case Western Reserve University.
