Tartans Sweep UAA Track and Field Weekly Awards

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Senior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) and junior Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va./Oakton) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team were honored as University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week for their performances at the Washington and Lee University Track and Field Carnival.

Schofel opened the outdoor season by claiming a first and fourth-place showing. He won the hammer throw with a distance of 53.98 meters and then took fourth in the discus with a toss of 40.54 meters.

Mills opened his outdoor season with a win in the 800-meter run. The junior led a sweep in the event for the Tartans when he crossed the line with a time of 1:54.60.

The Tartans will next compete at their annual home invitational on Saturday, March 24 with the hammer throw taking place on Friday begining at 3:30 p.m.
