Schofel Receives UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Senior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J./Livingston) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events following his performance at the Carnegie Mellon Quad on Saturday.

Schofel turned in two top finishes in the discus and hammer throw while placing second in the shot put. The senior broke the school record in the discus with a mark of 47.55 meters. He broke James Hulley's mark of 47.40 meters set in 2010. Schofel won the hammer throw with a mark of 55.82 meters and took second in the shot put with a mark of 13.67 meters.

He currently ranks top in the UAA in the hammer throw and discus while ranking seventh in the hammer and 11th in the discus nationally.

The Tartans will travel to the Dave Labor Invitational on Saturday, April 7 hosted by Slippery Rock University.
