Tartans Compete at OWU Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet

(DELAWARE, Ohio) - With less than two days before the NCAA announces its competitors for the national meet, a handful of Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field athletes competed at the Great Lakes Final Qualifying Meet hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Thursday.

Junior Isaac Mills (Fairfax, Va. / Oakton) won the 800-meter run with a season-best time of 1:53.19. Senior Jacob Schofel (Livingston, N.J. / Livingston) took second in the hammer throw and third in the discus. He had a distance of 55.36 meters in the hammer and 47.20 meters in the discus.

Freshman Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) competed in the shot put and discus while finishing fourth in both events. The freshman tossed the shot put a season-best 15.93 meters and the discus 46.04 meters.

Senior Tommy Mansfield (Westerville, Ohio / Westerville Central) cleared 4.44 meters in the pole vault to place fixth in his final collegiate meet.

The top 20 athletes in each event qualify for the NCAA Championships. The last day to compete prior to NCAA invites is Friday, May 18. Schofel currently ranks 15th in the hammer.
