Kiefel Receives UAA Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week for field events following his performance at the Denison University Bob Shannon Invitational Saturday.

Kiefel helped the Tartans win the invitational for the fourth consecutive season. After breaking the school record a week ago in the triple jump, Kiefel toped his mark this past Saturday with a jump of 14.28 meters to win the event once again. The freshman also claimed points for the Tartans in the long jump as he placed fourth with a leap of 6.42 meters.

His distance in the triple jump ranks tops in the UAA and 11th nationally.

The Tartans will be back in action on Saturday, February 9 at the Noke Elite Meet hosted by Roanoke University in Roanoke, Virginia.
