Aldrich Named Mideast Outdoor Regional Coach of the Year

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - Carnegie Mellon University head men's and women's track and field coach Gary Aldrich was honored by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as the Men's Outdoor Mideast Coach of the Year.

This is the first outdoor honor for the fifth-year head coach, who garnered the same accolade for the indoor season. Aldrich coached the Tartans to a runner-up finish at the University Athletic Association (UAA) Men's Outdoor Track and Field Championship at the end of April. Under Aldrich, the Tartans set four school records and earned UAA Field Athlete of the Meet and Running Athlete of the Meet honors.

Aldrich also received the same accolade for the indoor season in 2014 and 2016 and was previously a five-time USTFCCCA Mideast Regional Assistant Coach of the Year winner for the Tartans.

Aldrich and his staff will be coaching four athletes this weekend at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships hosted at SPIRE Institute in Geneva, Ohio.
