Miller and Kiefel Break School Records at Robert Morris Invitational

(MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa.) - Members of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Robert Morris University Invitational Saturday. Senior Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) broke an 11-year old shot put school record with a first-place throw of 17.11 meters. Miller tops James Hulley's mark of 16.61 meters set in 2010.

Junior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) won the triple jump with a distance of 14.65 meters, topping his previous school record mark of 14.59 meters.

Miller later won the discus with a season-best mark of 48.55 meters. Sophomore Bailey O'Malley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) and senior Marc Edwards (North Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) finished first and second in the hammer throw, respectively. O'Malley had a mark of 46.22 meters and Edwards 39.79 meters. O'Malley also took second in the shot put with a toss of 14.55 meters and third in the discus with a mark of 39.87 meters.

Junior Graham Eversden (Chandler, Ariz. / Chandler) ran a person-best time in the 800-meter run crossing in 1:52.38 to finish third.

Senior Harry Branch-Shaw (New York, N.Y. / Brooklyn Technical) won the 3,000-meter steeplechase in 9:08.97 topping his person-best time while graduate student Hunter Hartshorne (Ithaca, N.Y. / Ithaca) also ran a personal-best time and placed second in 9:18.31. Junior Aidan O'Donnell (Canton, Conn. / Canton) finished fourth in 9:58.25.

The 1,500-meter run saw graduate student Liam Walsh (Gaithersburg, Md. / Quince Orchard) crossing first with a time of 4:00.97 and freshman Alex Ivanov (Newton, Mass. / Newton) crossing third in 4:08.01.

The Tartans will travel to Slippery Rock University on Thursday, April 22.
