Miller and Branch-Shaw Sweep UAA Track and Field Weekly Awards

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Seniors Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) and Harry Branch-Shaw (New York, N.Y. / Brooklyn Technical) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's outdoor track and field team swept the University Athletic Association (UAA) Athlete of the Week accolades following their weekend performances at the Robert Morris University Invitational.

Miller broke an 11-year school record in the shot put. The senior placed first with a mark of 17.11 meters topping James Hulley's mark of 16.61 meters set in 2010. Miller later won the discus with a season-best mark of 48.55 meters. He currently ranks tops in the UAA in both events while ranking fourth nationally in the shot put and 13th in the discus.

Branch-Shaw won the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a person-best time of 9:08.97, topping his previous time by more than eight seconds. His time currently ranks tops nationally. This marks Branch-Shaw's second honor this season.

The Tartans will travel to Slippery Rock University on Thursday, April 22.
