Tartans Compete at SRU Invitational

(SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team competed at the Slippery Rock University Invitational Thursday.

Sophomore Bailey O'Malley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) had two third place showing on the afternoon. His first came in the hammer with a throw of 46.79 meters before throwing the shot put 14.01 meters. O'Malley also had a mark of 38.10 meters in the discus.

Senior Marc Edwards (North Versailles, Pa. / East Allegheny) took third in the javelin with a throw of 45.07 meters. The senior also placed seventh in the hammer after throwing the element 43.27 meters.

Sophomore Len Huang (Holmdel, N.J. / Holmdel) took seventh in the discus and shot put with a marks of 39.23 and 12.66 meters, respectively.

Freshman Sebastian Peralta (Houston, Texas / The Awty International School) ran the 400-meter dash in 56.20 and then ran to a season-best time of 23.56 in the 200-meter dash to place sixth in both events.

The Tartans will next compete at the at St. Francis (Pa.) University Red Flash Invitational on Saturday, April 24.
