Miller Earns All-America Honors, McGovern Advances to 400-Meter Hurdles Final

(GREENSBORO, N.C.) – During the first day of the 2021 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships, senior Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) of the Carnegie Mellon University men's track and field team earned All-America. The three-day championships are being held at the Irwin Belk Track Complex in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Miller competed in the discus on Thursday, the first of his two events, and placed seventh with a toss of 47.89 meters. He becomes the second thrower in program history to become an All-American. In 2014, Zachary Erra-Hernandez earned the honor with an eighth-place finish in the hammer.

Freshman Andrew McGovern (Lexington, Mass. / Lexington) won his heat in the 400-meter hurdles and had the seventh fastest time in the preliminaries, crossing in 53.11 to advance to the finals. The freshman will return to the track on Saturday in the finals at 2:25 p.m.

Junior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) finished in 13th-place in the long jump with a mark of 6.70 meters.

Senior Harry Branch-Shaw (New York, N.Y. / Brooklyn Technical) and graduate student Hunter Hartshorne (Ithaca, N.Y. / Ithaca) will both compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Friday at 4:45 p.m. Kiefel and Miller will compete again on Saturday in the triple jump and shot put, respectively.
