Men’s Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Awards

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) - The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the 2022 Division III All-Academic Track & Field Teams and Carnegie Mellon University was included on the list for the 26th consecutive year. More than 150 teams earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or better for the 2021-22 academic year.

The men's track and field team carried a cumulative team GPA of 3.50 for the academic year.

In addition to the team earning the award, 14 individuals were honored:

Freshman Eamon Brady (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) – Computer Science
Freshman Cody Breidenbach (Nazareth, Pa. / Nazareth Area) – Electrical and Computer Engineering
Graduate student Michael Cai (Dumont, N.J. / Bergen County Academies) – Electrical and Computer Engineering
Junior Alex Halkias (Berlin, Conn. / Berlin) – Business Administration
Sophomore Alex Ivanov (Newton, Mass. / Newton) – Engineering
Graduate student Grant Johnson (Wilmette, Ill. / New Trier) – Architecture
Senior Justin Kiefel (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown STEM Academy) – Engineering
sophomore Andrew McGovern (Lexington, Mass. / Lexington) – Mechanical Engineering
Graduate student Bram Miller (Colgate, Wis. / Kettle Moraine Lutheran) – Mechanical Engineering
Junior Bailey O'Malley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) – Mechanical Engineering
Senior Michael OBroin (Park Ridge, Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep) – Computer Science
Sophomore Pranav Rajbhandari (Marietta, Ga./Walton) – Artificial Intelligence and Mathematics
Junior Elijah Sech (San Clemente, Calif. / San Clemente) – Mechanical Engineering
Freshman Aleksei Seletskiy (Palo Alto, Calif. / Palo Alto) – Computer Science

All 14 individuals qualified for the award by achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or better with either competing at the NCAA Championships or finishing the regular season ranked in the national top 50 in an individual event or top 35 in a relay event.
