Breidenbach Earns Second Straight All-America Status at NCAA Indoor Championships

(BIRMINGHAM, Ala.) - Sophomore Cody Breidenbach of the Carnegie Mellon University men's indoor track and field team earned All-America recognition at the 2023 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships on Friday for the second consecutive year. The championships are being held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, with Birmingham-Southern College serving as the host.

NCAA Performances:

  • Breidenbach placed seventh in the weight throw with a season-best toss of 18.78 meters. This marks his second straight All-America status in the weight throw as he also placed seventh last season. He is the first Tartan to become a two-time All-American in throw events at the indoor championships.
  • Juniors Alex Ivanov and Andrew McGovern ran in the preliminaries of the 800-meter run and posted times of 1:51.53 and 1:51.54, respectively, to advance to the finals on Saturday.
