For the second straight season, Carnegie Mellon University senior Josh Newby (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), a member of the men’s cross country and track and field teams, has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for men's cross country and track and field.

Newby's second-place individual showing led the Tartans to a first-place team finish.

The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team opened its 2013 season at the Duquesne Duals at Schenley Park Saturday morning. The race was the season opener for the Tartans who competed against Division I schools Duquesne, Pittsburgh, Robert Morris and Youngstown State while St. Vincent joined Carnegie Mellon as the two lone Division III schools.
