Men Finish in 24th at NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships

(MASON, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University Men's Cross Country team finished 24th of 32 teams as top finisher, senior George Degen (Madison, Wis./West), led the Tartans in the 2014 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships hosted by Wilmington College.

Degen was first to cross the finish line of the 8k, and with a time of 25:01.0, claimed 59th place in a poll of 280 runners.

Within eight seconds of one another, senior Josh Antonson (Naperville, Ill./Neuqua Valley) and juniors Brian Bollens (Pittsburgh, Pa./Pittsburgh Central Catholic) and Marc-Daniel Julien (Skokie, Ill./Niles West) took 157th, 167th, and 174th with times of 25:39.6, 25:42.8, and 25:45.4, respectively.

The next to finish the race for the Tartans were sophomore Ryan Archer (Pittsburgh, Pa./Vincentian Academy) and freshman Ryan Auld (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central).  Archer placed 204th with a time of 25:58.6.  Auld crossed the line to stop the clock with a time of 26:02.6 to take 214th.

Closing out the race for the cardinal and gray team was senior Eamon Cullinane (Hampton, N.H./Winnacunnet).  With a time of 26:35.0 and a place of 255th, the Carnegie Mellon team scored a total of 574 points for a 24th place finish.
