#13 Tartans Take Title at Allegheny Classic for Second Straight Year

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The 13th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University men's cross-country team was the definitive champion at the Allegheny College Classic on Saturday, September 15. The men's team finished with eight runners in the top 15 to record their second consecutive win this season and second consecutive win at Allegheny.

Junior Liam Walsh (Gaithersburg Md. / Quince Orchard) finished first for the Tartans placing second overall in a time of 20:47. "I felt like I did a good job hanging onto the front runners which really helped my overall finish," said Walsh. "Our team is really deep but we still need some of us to step up and prove ourselves," said the junior of the team's performance.

"It was a good race effort despite the conditions," said freshman Michael OBroin (Park Ridge Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep) of his second collegiate race. Obroin finished second for the Tartans and fifth overall. Sophomore Andrew Singh (Marietta, Ga. / Walton) finished seventh overall and third for the Tartans in a time of 20:57.

Junior Evan Yukevich (Tokyo, Japan / American School in Japan) and senior Aadi Mhatre (Bridgewater, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan) finished fourth and fifth respectively for the Tartans. Yukevich placed eighth overall in a time of 20:59 and Mhatre finished ninth in a time of 21:02. Junior Josh Kalapos finished sixth for the Tartans and 10th overall in a time of 21:10.

"I would definitely say that this is a break out race for me," said junior Harry Branch-Shaw (New York City, N.Y. / Brooklyn Technical) who finished seventh for the Tartans and 11th overall in a time of 21:12. Senior William Mitchell (Chatham, N.J. / Chatham) rounded out the Tartans' top-15 finishers in 14th place overall at eighth for the Cardinal and Gray.

The Tartans will compete again at the Paul Short Invitational hosted by Lehigh University on September 29.
