Connelly Named Mideast Region Coach of the Year

(NEW ORLEANS, La.) – Carnegie Mellon University head men's cross country coach Tim Connelly was named NCAA Division III Mideast Region Coach of the Year for the 2019 collegiate season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association. It marks the second straight season Connelly has received the accolade and it comes following leading the fourth-ranked Tartans to their second consecutive regional title and sixth in school history.

The Tartans won the regional meet by placing seven runners in the top 20 and received the automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Championships. This will mark the Cardinal and Gray's 25th appearance and sixth straight competing at the championship race

The Tartans will compete at the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships hosted by Spalding University at the Tom Sawyer State Park in Louisville, Kentucky on Saturday, November 23 with the men's race set to begin at 10:45 a.m. ET.
