Tartans Compete in Paul Short Invitational Gold Race

(BETHLEHEM, Pa.) - Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team competed in the gold race at the Lehigh University Paul Short Invitational on Friday morning and placed 28th in a field of 37 teams. The Tartans were the second Division III team to finish on the 8k course in a field of Division I, II and III runners.

Senior Michael OBroin (Park Ridge, Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep) finished first for the Cardinal and Gray in 70th place in a time of 24:31.7 in a field of 293 runners. Freshmen Colin McLaughlin (Stamford, Conn. / Westhill) was second for the Tartans, as he crossed in 25:20.5.

Junior Elijah Sech (San Clemente, Calif. / San Clemente) was the third Tartan to come across the line with a time of 25:23.5. freshman Matthew Coyle (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) then crossed in 25:34.5 followed by sophomore Charlie Murphy (Roanoke, Va. / Patrick Henry) in 25:52.0 to round out Carnegie Mellon's top five finishers.

The Tartans will run next on their home course at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational in Schenley Park on Saturday, October 9.
