Tartans Place Third at Inter-Regional Rumble

(OBERLIN, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University men's cross country team finished third at the Inter-Regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College with 103 points. Leading the Tartans in the 35-team race on the 8k course was graduate student Matt Karee (Elmira, N.Y. / Notre Dame).

Karee crossed in a time of 25:35.3 to place seventh in a field of 308 runners. Senior Michael OBroin (Park Ridge, Ill. / Saint Ignatius College Prep) finished ninth with a time of 25:46.1.

Freshman Matthew Coyle (Park Ridge, Ill. / Maine South) and junior Elijah Sech (San Clemente, Calif. / San Clemente) were the third and fourth Tartans to cross in 26th and 28th, respectively. Coyle finished in 26:19.7 and Sech crossed in 26:20.1. Freshmen Colin McLaughlin (Stamford, Conn. / Westhill) rounded out the Tartans scoring with a time of 26:28.7 to place 33rd.

The Tartans will next compete at the University Athletic Association Championships on Saturday, October 30 at the University of Rochester.
