Tartans Drop Two at CWRU

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, April 23 at CWRU in the final University Athletic Association (UAA) series of the season for each team. The Spartans won game one in five innings by a 16-4 score before coming from behind to win the second game, 7-2. The Tartans are now 15-18 overall and 6-12 in the UAA while the Spartans are 23-9 and 15-3.

For the day, senior Emily Song (Mount Arlington, N.J. / Roxbury) was 2-for-4 with a single, RBI, and run scored in each game. She hit her second home run of the season in game two to give the Tartans a 2-0 lead in the third inning.

Sophomore Erika Heffernen (Moorestown, N.J. / Moorestown) also had a hit in each game, running out her fifth triple of the year in game two to set a new season record.

Junior Emily Finger (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley) also saw success at the plate with hits in each game. The third baseman had a double in game one.

Senior Audrey Pederson (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) hit two doubles in game one which marked the third time in her career she hit two doubles in the same game.

The Tartans and Spartans will play the last game of the series on Sunday, April 24 at 11:00 a.m.
