McGee Hit First Career Home Run in Final Season Game for the Tartans

(CLEVELAND, Ohio) - The Carnegie Mellon University softball team ended the season with a 6-5 loss to Case Western Reserve University on Sunday, April 24, as the Spartans rallied for three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk off with the victory. The Tartans close the year at 15-19 overall and 6-13 in the University Athletic Association (UAA).

Senior Megan Hu (Katy, Texas / Seven Lakes) doubled in the first run of the game in the top of the first inning for her program-leading 116th hit. The Spartans answered with three runs off three hits in the bottom of the inning to hold a 3-1 lead.

Senior Scotty McGee (Huntington Beach, Calif. / Huntington Beach) hit her first career home run in the top of the fifth inning to make it 3-2 before senior Audrey Pederson (Bedford, N.H. / Bedford) gave the Tartans a 5-3 lead with a three-run home run to center field. The four-bag base hit for Pederson was her third of the season and fifth of her career. Pederson closed her career with 78 hits, ranking third all-time in the program's four-year history.

After the Tartans took the lead, McGee retired seven batters and held a 5-4 lead before allowing a two-run walk-off home run to senior Grace Yeung with one out in the final inning.

Junior Emily Finger (Aurora, Ill. / Metea Valley) finished the day with two hits while freshman Libby Eichberger () recorded a single to lead the Tartans with 36 hits for the season.

Senior Emily Song (Mount Arlington, N.J. / Roxbury) scored two runs and stole two bases in the game. Song finished the year with a program-best 20 stolen bases with a career-leading 51 for her career. Song also finishes her career as the leader in runs scored with 80 and matches her own record for runs scored in a season with 28.

In the circle, McGee finished with eight strikeouts to tie a season-best while she finished with 60 for the season and 343 for her career.
