Murphy Garners UAA Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball Athlete of the Week for her performance in the Tartans' 1-1 road mark over the weekend in UAA play.  

In Friday's 68-57 victory at Rochester, Murphy recorded her seventh double-double of the season with a season-high tying 29 points while grabbing a game-high 16 rebounds.  Murphy was a perfect 13-of-13 from the foul line and recorded three assists, three steals and two blocks.  In the Tartans' 62-57 setback at Emory Sunday, Murphy scored 10 points to record her 18th straight double figure game dating back to last season.  The sophomore also recorded three blocks.  

For the week, Murphy shot 93.8% (15-16) from the charity stripe and 57.1% from the floor while averaging 19.5 points, 11.0 rebounds and 2.5 blocks.

Carnegie Mellon will next face ninth-ranked Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, on Friday, January 30 at 6:00 p.m.
