Junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team added another All-America honor to her resume when D3hoops.com announced its 19th annual women’s basketball All-America team on Wednesday, March 23. Murphy is the first Carnegie Mellon women’s basketball player to receive All-America honors as the D3hoops.com recognition joins her Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) award received on March 18.

Murphy was also named to the first team for the second consecutive year.

The honor is a first from the organization for a Carnegie Mellon basketball player.

The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team ran short on time and fell in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship sectional semifinal to 10th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis, 75-69, on Friday, March 11 at Thomas More College. The Tartans conclude their record-setting season with a 21-7 record.

The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team continued its historic season with a 68-65 victory in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship against 14th-ranked Ohio Northern University. The Tartans are now 21-6 on the season which ties the school record for wins in a season with the 1990-91 team.

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team traveled seven hours to Hope College in Holland, Michigan, for the program’s first NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament game in 25 years, and closed Friday night’s opening round with a 73-72 victory after junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) converted a layup and foul shot with five seconds left. The Tartans, ranked 25th in the nation, are now 20-6 while the fifth-ranked Flying Dutch end the year with a 26-2 record.

Murphy earned first-team honors while Hudepohl was named to the second team.

Senior Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn.) of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team became the 11th Tartan to score 1,000 career points, as the Tartans defeated 12th-ranked University of Rochester, 95-89, on Sunday, February 21. The University Athletic Association (UAA) victory improves the Tartans’ record to 7-6 in Association play and 18-6 overall while the Yellowjackets are now 19-5, 9-4. The win over Rochester marked Carnegie Mellon’s second over a ranked opponent this season.

The Tartans are now 17-6 overall and 6-6 in the Association, while the Eagles fall to 13-10 and 4-8.

Senior Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored a career-high 25 points for Carnegie Mellon who moves to 16-6 overall and 5-6 in UAA play while WashU is now 18-4 and 9-2.
