Murphy Honored as D3hoops.com All-American

Junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team added another All-America honor to her resume when D3hoops.com announced its 19th annual women’s basketball All-America team on Wednesday, March 23. Murphy is the first Carnegie Mellon women’s basketball player to receive All-America honors as the D3hoops.com recognition joins her Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) award received on March 18.
ECAC Names Murphy DIII South Player of the Year

Junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team garnered Division III South Player of the Year accolades from the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) when the teams were announced today. Murphy was also named to the first team for the second consecutive year.

Junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team was named to the 2016 WBCA NCAA Division III Coaches’ All-America team, the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced today. The honor is a first from the organization for a Carnegie Mellon basketball player.

Junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team was named to the D3hoops.com Great Lakes All-Region First Team on Monday, March 14 after leading the Tartans to the best season in school history. The honor is Murphy’s third from D3hoops.com and her first selection to the first team.

The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team ran short on time and fell in the NCAA Division III Women's Basketball Championship sectional semifinal to 10th-ranked Washington University in St. Louis, 75-69, on Friday, March 11 at Thomas More College. The Tartans conclude their record-setting season with a 21-7 record.
#25 Tartans Advance to NCAA Sweet 16 with 68-65 Win Against #14 Ohio Northern

The 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team continued its historic season with a 68-65 victory in the second round of the 2016 NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship against 14th-ranked Ohio Northern University. The Tartans are now 21-6 on the season which ties the school record for wins in a season with the 1990-91 team.
No. 25 Tartans Win NCAA First Round Game, 73-72, in Exciting Fashion Against No. 5 Hope

The Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team traveled seven hours to Hope College in Holland, Michigan, for the program’s first NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament game in 25 years, and closed Friday night’s opening round with a 73-72 victory after junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) converted a layup and foul shot with five seconds left. The Tartans, ranked 25th in the nation, are now 20-6 while the fifth-ranked Flying Dutch end the year with a 26-2 record.

Headlining the team is junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) as the UAA Co-Player of the Year.
Two Tartans Named to CoSIDA Academic All-America Team

Carnegie Mellon University juniors Jackie Hudepohl (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook/Colgate) and Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) have been named to the 2015-16 CoSIDA Division III Women’s Basketball Academic All-America Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Murphy earned first-team honors while Hudepohl was named to the second team.

Seniors Celebrated as Tartans Record 19th Win After 83-49 Victory Against Case Western Reserve

The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team closed the regular season with an 83-49 victory at home against Case Western Reserve University on Saturday, February 27. The victory gives the Tartans the third most wins in school history at 19, as they close with a 19-6 record and 8-6 University Athletic Association (UAA) showing.
Murphy Earns Second USBWA Division III National Player of the Week Award

Junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team was named the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) Division III Women’s National Player of the Week for the second time this season, while receiving three other weekly awards. Murphy is the first female to earn the USBWA award twice in the same season.
Women’s Basketball Upsets #12 Rochester

Senior Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn.) of the Carnegie Mellon University women’s basketball team became the 11th Tartan to score 1,000 career points, as the Tartans defeated 12th-ranked University of Rochester, 95-89, on Sunday, February 21. The University Athletic Association (UAA) victory improves the Tartans’ record to 7-6 in Association play and 18-6 overall while the Yellowjackets are now 19-5, 9-4. The win over Rochester marked Carnegie Mellon’s second over a ranked opponent this season.
Murphy Drops 32 on Emory in 70-62 Win

On the night junior Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) was honored for scoring 1,000 career points earlier this season, the junior center tallied 32 points to help lead the Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team to a 70-62 win against visiting Emory University in University Athletic Association (UAA) play. The Tartans are now 17-6 overall and 6-6 in the Association, while the Eagles fall to 13-10 and 4-8.

Senior Liza Otto (Glastonbury, Conn.) scored a career-high 25 points for Carnegie Mellon who moves to 16-6 overall and 5-6 in UAA play while WashU is now 18-4 and 9-2.
