Tartans Top 100 Points in Home Victory Against Mount Aloysius

(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team was one-point shy of tying the school record for points in a game with its 108-71 victory against Mount Aloysius on Wednesday, November 30. The 15th-ranked Tartans improved to 6-0 as the Mounties dropped to 1-4.

Senior Jackie Hudepohl (Saratoga, Calif./Lynbrook (Colgate)) led the Tartans with 26 points, five rebounds and four assists while senior teammate Lisa Murphy (McLean, Va./McLean) recorded another perfect shooting performance to tally 25 points. Murphy finished 10-of-10 from the floor and 5-of-5 from the free throw line while she grabbed six rebounds.

The Tartans jumped out to a 25-17 first quarter lead after shooting 64.7% from the floor and  didn't slow down as they finished the half shooting 66.7% and held a 51-33 advantage at the break.

In the second half, freshman Katharine Higgins (Montclair, N.J./Montclair) hit all three of her attempts from behind the arc on her way to a career-high 19 points. A trey by freshman Laurel Pereira (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North) gave the Tartans their largest lead at 40 points with 25 seconds to play in the third quarter.

The Tartans recorded 25 assists on 42 made baskets while scoring 14 fast break points and 24 points off turnovers. They also recorded a season-best eight three pointers. Sophomore Jenn Mayberger (Chesterfield, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) led the team with a season-high five assists.

Mount Aloysius had three players in double figures with Abby Kulick leading from off the bench with 16 points. The Mounties made 10 three pointers with half of their shot attempts coming from behind the arc.

The Tartans will next travel to Washington and Jefferson College for a 7:00 p.m. contest on Tuesday, December 6.
