Filiere Honored with All-UAA Second Team Selection

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University sophomore Makayla Filiere (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton) has been named to the All-University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Basketball squad with a nod to the second team.

Filiere is a two-year starter and earns the All-UAA award for the first time. The sophomore guard led the Tartans in scoring with 17.5 points per game, which ranked second in the UAA, while she made 169 baskets to tie for the top spot. Filiere also finished the season ranked second in the UAA in steals per game with 2.7. In the final game of the season, Filiere connected on three three-pointers to tie the program's season record of 59 made three-pointers.

Filiere's career-high of 30 points came in non-conference action against Saint Vincent College when she made 6-of-7 from behind the arc. Four times Filiere scored 20 or more points in UAA play, while she recorded double digits in all but two games this season.
