Filiere Receives Third All-UAA Women’s Basketball Recognition

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball senior Makayla Filiere (Chandler, Ariz. / Hamilton) was honored by the University Athletic Association (UAA) coaches this week when the Association announced the 2019-20 All-UAA Women's Basketball Team. Filiere earned second-team recognition and her third straight honor.

Filiere hit the 1,000-point milestone in the second game of the season and finished fifth all-time in CMU women's basketball history with 1,273 points. She led the team in scoring for the third straight season with 12.2 points per game and averaged double figures all four seasons. The senior's 41 steals in UAA play led the league while her total of 83 for the season topped the UAA and finished one shy of the tying the Tartans' single-season record. Her 3.3 steals per game ranked 19th in the nation.

Filiere also climbed the CMU charts in steals, three-pointers made and assists, closing her career second all-time in steals with 279, fourth in three-pointers made with 142 and 10th in assists with 217.

Filiere became the ninth Tartan to earn at least three All-UAA awards and first since Lisa Murphy earned four awards from 2013-14 to 2016-17.
