(ATLANTA, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's basketball team closed a road weekend at Emory University on Sunday, February 20, falling 77-62 to the second-place team in the University Athletic Association (UAA). The Tartans are now 11-11 overall and 5-8 in the UAA with one game remaining on the schedule.

Freshman Catherine Or (Los Angeles, Calif. / Marlborough School) recorded a career-high 30 points on 11-of-16 shooting from the field and recorded her sixth double-double of the year with 11 rebounds to lead the Tartans. Senior Caitlyn Clendenin (Bethesda, Md. / Bethesda Chevy Chase) also scored in double figures with 12 points. Freshman Anisha Chintala (Austin, Texas / Westwood) dished out a team-high five assists in the game.

It took some time for things to get moving after the start of the game was delayed due to the men's game going to overtime.

Or made the first shot of the game and hit two free throws on the team's third possession but the score sat at 7-6 in favor of the Eagles after four minutes of play.

Emory then went on a 7-0 run to make it 14-6 with 4:36 showing on the clock before the Tartans cut it to four. Another 7-0 run by Emory made it 21-10 ahead of Or hitting a jumper to close the first quarter with the Tartans trailing 21-12.

The Eagles hit the first shot of the second quarter and continued to lead by double digits the remainder of the half. Seven first-half three-pointers by the Eagles to two for the Tartans helped the separation with the home team leading 44-31 at the break.

Carnegie Mellon cut into the deficit through the third quarter to trail by eight, 56-48, but a 9-0 run to start the final period gave the Eagles what they needed to keep the Tartans from mounting a comeback.

Or is the first Tartan to score 30 points in a game since Makayla Filiere scored 30 against Saint Vincent College on December 7, 2017. Or is also the first freshman to reach 30 points since Taran all-time leading scorer, Lisa Murphy, tallied 36 points twice in her first year as a Tartan in 2013-14.

Carnegie Mellon will conclude the regular season on Saturday, February 26, at Case Western Reserve University at 4:00 p.m.
