Women’s Golf Wins Third Straight Tournament
(LATROBE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team won its third straight tournament on Tuesday, September 16, after carding a 334 at the Saint Vincent Invitational held at the par 70 Glengarry Golf Links. Division II, Alderson Broaddus University placed second with a team score of 350.
Freshman Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) once again was the top Tartan, as she shot a 79 to place second individually. Freshmen Robin Tan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) and Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) finished with the second and third best scores for the Tartans firing rounds of 81 and 86, respectively. Hoskins round of 86 tied her season-best.
Both freshmen Diana Zhou (Diamond Bar, Calif.) and Frances Hughes (Palo Alto, Calif./Castilleja) carded season-best rounds. Zhou shot an 88 while Hughes finished with a 91.
The Tartans had two freshmen individuals enter the invitational. Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) shot a 92 and Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) ended the day with a 100, both season-best rounds.
Carnegie Mellon returns to action on Sunday, September 28 as they compete in the two-day, 36-hole Allegheny College Invitational at the Meadville Country Club.
