Women’s Golf Sits Second After First Round of Purple and White Invitational

(GALENA, Ohio) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the first day of the Purple and White Invitational hosted by Capital University on Thursday, April 2 and currently sit in second place after carding a team score of 362.  The first 18-holes of the invitational was played at the par-72 Royal American Links in Galena, Ohio.

In the field of 10 teams, Trine University sits atop the leader board with a 350 followed by the Tartans.  The University of Mount Union is one stroke back of the Tartans while Urbana University is in fourth with a 367.

Freshmen Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) and Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) are currently tied for second-place after each firing rounds of 85 on Thursday.  Hoskins' score tied her career-best round.

Freshmen Robin Tan (Austin, Texas/Westlake) carded a 91 and is in 10th while classmate Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) shot a 101.  Rounding out the Tartans field of five was freshman Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) who entered the clubhouse with a 106.  

Playing as an individual, junior Yoon Hee Ha (Tigard, Ore.) carded a 106.

Round two begins Friday morning and will be played at the New Albany Links in New Albany, Ohio.
