Kitahara Receives Fifth UAA Weekly Women’s Golf Honor

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – For the fifth time this season, sophomore Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) of the Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team has been named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Golf Athlete of the Week.

This week's award comes following her performance in helping the Tartans to a pair of team victories, with wins at the Saint Vincent Invitational Thursday, April 21 and at the Westminster Spring Invitational on Saturday, April 23. The team closed the season with three straight team victories.

Kitahara was the individual medalist at both events. She carded a 76 on Thursday at the par-70 Glengarry Golf Links before entering the clubhouse on Saturday with an 81 at the par-72 New Castle Country Club. Her pair of wins were her fourth and the fifth this season and marked three consecutive.

She ended the season with a 79.7 average through 15 rounds of play and now has seven career individual medalist honors.
