Jordan Named UAA Women’s Golf Rookie of the Year

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) – Freshman Carly Jordan of the Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team was named University Athletic Association (UAA) Women's Golf Rookie of the Year when the UAA announced its league awards on Monday, May 9. Joining Jordan on the All-Association Team are sophomore Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) and senior Yoon Hee Ha (Tigard, Ore./Tigard).

Kitahara was named to the first team after finishing the year with a scoring average of 79.7 through 15 rounds. The sophomore won five events including the final three tournaments of the year and the UAA Individual Championship while finishing in the top 10 in three other events. She carded a career-best round of one-under par 71 at the Jekyll Island Invitational, which is also a school record.

While being named UAA Rookie of the Year, Jordan also earned second-team honors. The first-year player finished third at the UAA Championships where she recorded her lowest round of 76. Jordan completed the year with five top-10 finishes and a second third-place showing with an overall average of 85.9 through 15 rounds.

Ha, who was a member of the club team in 2013-14, finished her final season with a scoring average of 91.7 through 14 rounds. She carded a career-best 81 at the Saint Vincent Invitational and tallied three top 10 finishes with one third-place finish at Saint Vincent.

The Tartans finished with four team victories in the program's second year of varsity competition.
