Women’s Golf Places Fifth at Allegheny Invitational

(MEADVILLE, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team placed fifth at the 2016 Allegheny College Invitational after carding 36-hole score of 680 (342-338).  The two-day event was hosted at the par 73 Country Club of Meadville.  The Tartans 680 is the second lowest two-round score in the program's young history.
    
Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Tartans with a 162 (82-80) to place tied for seventh individually. Freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) carded an 84 on Monday afternoon, as she finished with a 169 after firing an 85 in the opening round of play on Sunday.
    
Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) ended the event with a 172 (84-88) followed by freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) who shot a 177 after improving five strokes on Monday to enter the clubhouse with an 86. Junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) finished with a 184 (93-91).

The Tartans had one individual enter the invitational, as junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) shot a 213 (102-111).

Carnegie Mellon will travel to Lexington, Virginia on October 3-4 to play in the Generals Invitational.  The two-day event is being held the Lexington Golf & Country Club.
