Women’s Golf Cards 320 in Opening Round of Generals Invitational

(LEXINGTON, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the opening round of the Generals Invitational hosted by Washington & Lee University Monday, October 3.  The Tartans carded a 320, the second lowest team score in school history, and are in fourth following the first 18 holes of play at the Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Virginia.
    
Wittenberg University leads the invitational after shooting a 311. Jane Hopkinson-Wood of Wittenberg and Christina Herbert of Bridgewater College both carded rounds of even-par and are tied atop the leader board.

Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Tartans with a three-over par 75 and currently is tied for fourth-place individually. Freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) carded a 77 and is tied for ninth-place.

Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) fired an 81 while freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) and Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) finished Monday with rounds of 87 and 88, respectively.

The Tartans had one individual enter the invitational, as junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) shot a 103.

Play continues Tuesday morning with the second round from the Lexington Country Club.
