Women’s Golf Leads TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate After Opening Round

(BEAUFORT, S.C.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the first day of the TaylorMade-adidas Intercollegiate, hosted by Ohio Wesleyan University on Monday, March 13.  The two-day, 36-hole event is being held on the Morgan River Course at the Dataw Island Club in Beaufort, S.C.

Following the first 18 holes of play, the Tartans currently are atop the leaderboard in a field of seven teams after carding a round of 336 on the par-72, 5,900-yard course. Division II Ohio Dominican University is five strokes behind the Tartans in second with a 341
    
Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) and freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) both entered the clubhouse with rounds of 82. Kitahara and Lui are currently one-stroke off the individual leader heading into day two of play on Tuesday.

Junior Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) ended day one with a season-best round of 83. Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) fired an 89 while freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) carded a 91.

Carnegie Mellon had three individuals enter the championships; freshman Sanchi Gupta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) shot a career-best round 87 to lead the trio. Junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) carded a 91 while classmate Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) finished with a 110.

The second round of play starts at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14 with a shotgun start.
