Women’s Golf Ties School Record in Opening Round of the CMU Shootout

(APOLLO, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team hosted the first day of the Carnegie Mellon Spring Shootout Saturday, April 8 at The Links at Spring Church in Apollo, Pennsylvania. The Tartans are currently tied for first in a field of six teams after play on Saturday, as they fired a team score of 318 on the par-72, 5,863-yard course. The Tartans team score of 318 tied the school record for the lowest round.

Junior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) and freshman Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) both fired rounds of five-over par 77 and sit atop the individual leader board in a field of 30. For Davis, it was a career-best round.

Sophomore Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) and freshman Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) shot each shot an 82 on Saturday. Junior Emma Hoskins (Libertyville, Ill.) carded an 89
    
Carnegie Mellon had three individuals enter the invite; junior Isabelle Tseng (Plainsboro, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro South) carded an 87, freshman Sanchi Gupta (Cincinnati, Ohio/Ursuline Academy) fired a 91 and junior Ginger Glass (Hollidaysburg, Pa.) ended Saturday with a 100.    

Round two continues Sunday, April 9 with a shotgun start set for 9:00 a.m.
