Women’s Golf in Fourth After Opening Round of Generals Invitational

(LEXINGTON, Va.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the opening round of the Generals Invitational hosted by Washington & Lee University Monday, October 2. The Tartans carded a 320 on the par 72 Lexington Country Club in Lexington, Virginia, and are in fourth in a field of 13 teams following the first 18 holes of play.

Freshman Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) fires a five-over par 77 on Monday with senior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) firing a 78. Simpson is currently in seventh individually in a field of 71 golfers and Kitahara is tied for eighth.

Junior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) turned in a season-best round of 80 on Monday. Sophomore Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) carded an 85 while freshman Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) sits one-stroke back of Lui with an 86.

The Tartans had one individual enter the invitational, as sophomore Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) shot an 86.

Play continues Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. with the second round from the Lexington Country Club.
