Women’s Golf Finishes Ninth at Jekyll Island Collegiate, Sets School Record for Lowest 54-hole Score

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team closed play at the Jekyll Island Collegiate Sunday. The Tartans finished ninth with a three-round total of 948 (314-319-315) on the par-72, 5,801-yard course at the Indian Mounds Golf Club on Jekyll Island. The 54-hole tournament was comprised of 23 Division III teams including 12 ranked in the top 25 nationally. The Tartans' 948 is the best three-round score in the programs history.

Sophomore Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) shot a 79 Sunday and finished with a 233 (79-75-79) to lead the Tartans over the weekend. Freshman Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) and junior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) both finished with a 235 over the three-rounds. Simpson carded rounds of 78-79-78 and Jordan fired rounds of 77-81-77.

Freshman Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) ended the tournament with a 250 (80-85-85) while senior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) carded a 251 (86-84-81).

Carnegie Mellon had one individual play on the par-72 Oleander Course. Sophomore Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) carded a 247 (82-81-84) over the 54-hole event.

The Tartans will host their annual Spring Invitational on Thursday, March 22. Tee times are set for 10:00 a.m. at the Longue Vue Club in Verona, Pennsylvania.
