Kitahara Leads Tartans at Opening Round of Williams College Invitational

(WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the opening round of the Williams College Spring Invitational on Saturday afternoon and carded a 321. The Tartans are currently in third in a field of eight teams with the two-day, 36-hole event being played at Taconic Golf Club with par 71.

Senior Summer Kitahara (Greenwich, Conn./Rye Country Day) led the Tartans with a 77 and is in fourth-place individually in a field of 54 golfers. Freshman Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) ended play with an 80 on Saturday.

Junior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) carded an 82, freshman Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) fired an 83 and sophomore Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) shot an 84.

The Tartans had one individual enter the invitational, as sophomore Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) carded a 78 and is tied for fifth as an individual.

Round two is set for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday with a shotgun start.
