Women’s Golf Opens Play at 2018 NCAA D III Preview

(HOUSTON, Texas) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team opened play in the first round of the 2018 NCAA Division III Preview held at the par-72, 5,871-yard Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston Texas. The Tartans currently are in eighth place in a field of 18 teams after carding a 322.

Freshman Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) entered the clubhouse on Monday with the Tartans top score of five-over par 77. Sophomore Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) and freshman Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) both carded rounds of 79.

Sophomore Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) shot an 87 and freshman May Wang (Portland, Ore./Westview) ended play on Monday with a 91.

Carnegie Mellon had one individual compete at the preview, as senior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) shot an 81.

The second round of the NCAA Preview event will be played Tuesday, September 25.
