Women’s Golf Places Ninth at 2018 NCAA D III Preview

(HOUSTON, Texas) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team ended play at the 36-hole 2018 NCAA Division III Preview on Tuesday and placed ninth in a field of 18 teams. The two-day event was held at the par-72, 5,871-yard Bay Oaks Country Club in Houston Texas. The Tartans ended play Tuesday with a 335 which gave them a 657 for the event.

Sophomore Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) and freshman Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) were the Tartans top golfers for the 36-hole event, as they both carded a 161 for the preview. Simpson carded rounds of 79 and 82 while Susanto finished with rounds of 77 and 84.

Freshman Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) shot a 162 (79-83), sophomore Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) carded a 173 (87-86 and freshman May Wang (Portland, Ore./Westview) ended with a 179 (91-88).

Carnegie Mellon had one individual compete at the preview, as senior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) carded rounds of 81 and 82 for a 163.

Carnegie Mellon will travel to Lexington, Virginia on October 7-8 to play in the Generals Invitational. The two-day event is being held the Lexington Golf & Country Club.
