Tartans Break School Record; Finish Second at 2018 Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational

(SANDESTIN, Fla.) - The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team completed play at the 2018 Golfweek Division III Fall Invitational and finished second in a field of 18 teams after carding a 309 Tuesday afternoon. The Tartans ended the 54-hole hole event with a three-round school record score of 938 (319-310-309) which was played on the 5,804-yard, par 72 course at the Baytowne Golf Club in Sandestin, Florida.

Junior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) placed tied for eighth individually in a field of 93 golfers with a 230 (77-74-79). Jordan held a three-stroke differential over freshman teammate Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) who shot a 54-hole score of 233 (78-77-78) which tied her for 13th individually.

Freshman Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) tied her season-best round on Tuesday, as she entered the clubhouse with a two-over par 74. Chen finished with a 239 (87-78-74). Junior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) also ended play with a 239 (80-81-78), as she fired a 78 on Tuesday, her best round of the event. Sophomore Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) shot a 245 (84-82-79) after recording her lowest round of the three-day event on Tuesday with a 79.

The Tartans will be off until the spring with their first competition coming at the University Athletic Association Championships March 10-11 in Palm Coast, Florida, at Hammock Beach Resort on the Conservatory Course.
