Tartans Remain Second After 36 Holes at Jekyll Island Collegiate

(JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf competed at the second round of the 54-hole Jekyll Island Women's Collegiate at the Indian Mounds Golf Club in Jekyll Island, Georgia, on Saturday. The Tartans fired a team score of 307 and are in second after 36-holes of play with a two-round total of 609 (302-307). The three-day event is being played on the par-72, 5,801-yard Indian Mounds Golf Club on Jekyll Island with the field comprised of 21 Division III teams including eight ranked in the top 25 nationally.

New York University leads the field with a 606 (300-306) while Methodist University is in third with a 612 (304-308).

Junior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) is pacing the Tartans team scoring with a 150 (77-73) while senior Carly Jordan (San Juan Capistrano, Calif./St. Margaret's Episcopal School) and sophomore Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) are three strokes behind Lui with a 153. Jordan has carded rounds of 76 and 77, as Simpson has turned in a 75 and 78.

Freshman Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) has a 36-hole score of 155 (78-77) and classmate Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) finished play on Saturday with a 157 (81-76).

Carnegie Mellon had two individuals compete, as sophomore Catherine Tianhong Yu (Dalian, China/Walnut) 150 (73-77) and junior Lavonca Davis (Pickerington, Ohio) 157 (79-78).

The third round of the event will be held Sunday, March 17 with the first group teeing off at 8:00 a.m.
