14 Carnegie Mellon Athletes Named to the 12th Annual UAA Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team

(ROCHESTER, N.Y.) - Carnegie Mellon University had 14 student-athletes named to the 12th Annual University Athletic Association (UAA) Presidents Council Scholar-Athlete Team, as announced be the league’s office on Wednesday. The 14 Tartans, three men’s cross country, two football, men’s golf, women’s golf, softball, men’s tennis and one women’s tennis, received the prestigious honor along with 142 other student-athletes representing all eight UAA member institutions.

The 2019-20 Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team received academic recognition from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) when the association announced the top 25 teams with the highest team GPA for each division. The Tartans ranked 10th among NCAA Division III institutions. The nine-member Cardinal and Gray team finished the year with a cumulative grade point average of 3.750.

Five members of the Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team have been named to the 2019-20 Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar Team, as announced by the organization. Senior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho), junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) and sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) are repeat honorees with freshmen Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview) and Michelle Koo (Scottsdale, Ariz./BASIS Scottsdale Charter) joining the trio. This is the most honorees that the Tartans have had in program history and marks the third straight year four or more have been recognized.

Sudjianto was joined by junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School), sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) and freshman Michelle Cao (Johns Creek, Ga./Northview) on the All-UAA squad.

Two days after being named to the All-Great Lakes Region team by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), three Carnegie Mellon University women’s golfers have been named WGCA All-Americans, becoming the first in program history. Freshman Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) received first team accolades with junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) landing a spot on the second team and sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) being recognized as honorable mention.

Three Carnegie Mellon University women’s golfers have been recognized for their play on the course this season by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA). Junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School), sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) and freshman Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) were named to the 2020 All-Great Lakes Region team. The three accolades are the most regional distinctions for the program in one season while it marks the second straight for Susanto and the second for Simpson, as she received the honor her freshman season.
