Tartans in Second After First Day of NCAA D-III Preview

(PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla.) – The Carnegie Mellon University women's golf team competed at the opening day of the 2019 NCAA Division III Preview held at the par-72, 5,839-yard PGA National Palmer Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The 54-hole event is being hosted by Emory University. The Tartans currently are second in a field of 13 teams after carding a 36-hole score of 625 on Saturday. The Cardinal and Gray opened play with a 318 and then followed with a round of 307 in the afternoon.

Leading the field is University Athletic Association counterpart Washington University in St. Louis with a 618 (318-300).

Freshman Alexis Sudjianto (Charlotte, N.C./Charlotte Latin School) in her first collegiate event leads the Tartans with a 150 after carding rounds of 77 and one-over par 73. Sudjianto currently is third individually in a field of 70 golfers.

Sophomore Grace Chen (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis) sits five strokes behind Sudjianto with a 155, as the sophomore fired rounds of 78 and 77.

Junior Charlotte Simpson (Towson, Md./Bryn Mawr School) ended play on Saturday with a 157 (81-76). Sophomore Nadia Susanto (Irvine, Calif./Arnold O. Beckman) fired a 166 (86-81) and senior Yedin Lui (Idaho Falls, Idaho) shot a 171 (82-89) on Saturday.

Carnegie Mellon had one individual enter the event, as sophomore May Wang (Portland, Ore./Westview) carded a 163 (80-83).

The third and final round will be held on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
